Tesamorelin is a synthetic 44-amino-acid analog of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH 1-44), modified with a trans-3-hexenoyl group at the N-terminus to increase resistance to enzymatic degradation.
In research models, Tesamorelin has been examined for its role in stimulating pituitary growth hormone release, GH/IGF-1 axis signaling, visceral adipose tissue biology, and hepatic fat metabolism.

Tesamorelin was developed in the 1990s and 2000s as a stabilized GHRH analog. The N-terminal trans-3-hexenoyl modification protects the peptide from dipeptidyl peptidase-IV cleavage, extending its activity relative to native GHRH. It has since been the subject of extensive preclinical and clinical research in the GH-axis literature.

Tesamorelin has been studied in cell-based assays, animal models and human research settings. Reported findings describe increased pulsatile GH secretion and downstream IGF-1 changes, along with effects on body-composition endpoints.
Key Areas of Research:
These converging observations make Tesamorelin a widely used research tool for studying GHRH receptor signaling and the GH/IGF-1 axis.
