DSIP Overview

DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide with the sequence Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu, first isolated from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits.

In research models, DSIP has been examined for its role in sleep-wake regulation, stress-response pathways, circadian and endocrine signaling, and neuromodulatory activity.

Reference: Schoenenberger G. A. et al. (1977), Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A, 74(3), 1282-1286.

History

DSIP was isolated in 1977 by Schoenenberger and Monnier, who reported that it promoted delta-wave sleep when infused into rabbits. The finding sparked decades of research into endogenous sleep-regulating peptides, although its precise physiological role and receptor target remain active questions in the literature.

Reference: Schoenenberger G. A. et al. (1977), Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A, 74(3), 1282-1286.

Research Findings

DSIP has been studied in rodent and rabbit models and in a limited number of early human research settings. Reported findings describe effects on sleep architecture, stress-hormone signaling and neuronal activity.

Key Areas of Research:

These observations make DSIP a long-standing research tool for studying endogenous peptide regulation of sleep and stress physiology.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our products and processes.

Each vial contains the exact quantity listed on the label. A 5 mg vial contains 5 mg of lyophilized peptide. Research-grade purity supports accurate dosing for experimental protocols.

Peptides ship as lyophilized powder. Every order includes a complimentary vial of bacteriostatic water for reconstitution. Any additional supplies (syringes, mixing vials, etc.) must be sourced separately by the research institution.

Sealed lyophilized peptide remains stable for approximately 2 years when stored properly. After reconstitution, the solution should be refrigerated and typically retains stability for several weeks depending on temperature and handling conditions.

No. Our products are supplied strictly for in vitro laboratory research. Because these compounds are not authorized for use on humans or animals outside approved research settings, we do not provide usage or dosing instructions.

All peptides are guaranteed to be at least 98% pure, verified by HPLC and mass spectrometry. A Certificate of Analysis is available for every batch.

Keep lyophilized peptides in a cool, dry place away from direct heat and light. Once reconstituted, refrigerate the solution to maintain stability and preserve peptide integrity.
