KPV Overview

KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a tripeptide corresponding to the C-terminal amino acids 11-13 of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It retains much of the parent hormone’s anti-inflammatory activity in research models without engaging pigmentation pathways.

In research models, KPV has been examined for its role in NF-kB-related inflammatory signaling, intestinal epithelial biology, cytokine release, and skin and mucosal inflammation paradigms.

Reference: Brzoska T. et al. (2010), Adv Exp Med Biol, 681, 107-116.

History

Alpha-MSH was identified as an anti-inflammatory mediator in the 1980s and 1990s, and structure-activity studies mapped much of that activity to its C-terminal tripeptide. KPV was subsequently investigated as a minimal active fragment, and later work explored its uptake through the PepT1 peptide transporter in intestinal epithelial models.

Research Findings

KPV has been studied in cell culture and in animal models of inflammation, particularly colitis-type models. Reported findings describe reduced pro-inflammatory cytokine signaling following peptide exposure.

Key Areas of Research:

These observations make KPV a frequently used research tool for studying melanocortin-derived anti-inflammatory signaling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our products and processes.

Each vial contains the exact quantity listed on the label. A 10 mg vial contains 10 mg of lyophilized peptide. Research-grade purity supports accurate dosing for experimental protocols.

Peptides ship as lyophilized powder. Every order includes a complimentary vial of bacteriostatic water for reconstitution. Any additional supplies (syringes, mixing vials, etc.) must be sourced separately by the research institution.

Sealed lyophilized peptide remains stable for approximately 2 years when stored properly. After reconstitution, the solution should be refrigerated and typically retains stability for several weeks depending on temperature and handling conditions.

No. Our products are supplied strictly for in vitro laboratory research. Because these compounds are not authorized for use on humans or animals outside approved research settings, we do not provide usage or dosing instructions.

All peptides are guaranteed to be at least 98% pure, verified by HPLC and mass spectrometry. A Certificate of Analysis is available for every batch.

Keep lyophilized peptides in a cool, dry place away from direct heat and light. Once reconstituted, refrigerate the solution to maintain stability and preserve peptide integrity.
